Huh, I thought these H3's were bigger I guess it’ s just the dope y styling. Man could you imagine if these were allowed to be good vehicles instead of styling exercises to boost a brand that should never have existed?

Full time 4wd

locking rear AND front differential options

the wimpiest engine is still stronger than the legendary Jeep 4.0

all the way up to a 300 hp 320 lbs-ft V8.

With the right styling (i.e. anything but this) and some generational refinement GM would could have had a very popular machine on their hands right now.

Suddenly I understand why Arnold was so fond of Hummers. He too wants to look taller than he actually is; these just help reinforce the illusion.

The H3 was based on ( at the time) compact truck platform. It’s smaller than the current mid-sized trucks we have today.

The H3T is actually a pretty respected vehicle these days.

Its capabilities are well respected, and its niche status certainly makes it sought after, I wouldn’t go so far as to say the H3T is well respected. Its still a lot of the worst parts of old GM

Sure, probably sought after is a better way to say it.  Though I know some trail guys who absolutely love that platform.

Woah wait those could have a factory front locker? Huh.

I’ve seen them nicely kitted out and temptingly cheap on CL from time to time but I.. just... couldn’t.

It’s like prototype race cars, the wheels/tires in proportion to body make them look huge.

I think thats exactly right, plus the squashed roof makes it look chunkier than it has a right to be.

I always saw the H3 as being proportionally similar to the FJ Cruiser , as rare as both cars are on UK roads

Lots of H3 vs Wrangler Unlimited comparisons back in the day

Old GM or old old GM? Or maybe old old old GM... How many times have they attempted a system reboot?

Just the wrong timing for it. The H3 was miles better than the H2 and the H3T is basically the new Jeep Gladiator minus removable roof.  It probably would have been a good money maker had it not been introduced during a recession and in the middle of the $4/gal gas period.
